AUGUST, 2010

Girls Summer Camp

WHO: All girls entering 1st to 7th grades
WHEN: August 2-6, 9 am-4 pm
WHERE: Holly Center, Salisbury

The Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay Council will be sponsoring a day camp from August 2 to 6, 2010, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., at the Holly Center in Salisbury. The cost is $50 per girl.  Financial assistance is available. Please bring a bag lunch and drink. The camp is open to all girls entering 1st through 7th grades in the fall of 2010. You do not have to be a registered Girl Scout to attend. Girls must register to attend the Girl Scouts Holly Center Summer Camp by July 23, 2010. Summer Camp is a safe and healthy way for girls to have fun, make new friends, try new things, gain confidence, and create lasting memories! Girls will develop skills in leadership and gain a greater sense of independence by being appreciated for who they are. The girls will be taking a virtual road trip to other states along with playing games and doing crafts. There will also be outdoor activities including swimming.

WHO: Brownies
WHEN: Saturday, September 25, 2010, 10 am – 12 pm
WHERE: Whispering Winds Farm, Trappe, MD
COST: $8, includes patch, snack and craft
NOTE: Sneakers or boots only, no sandals or flip flops. Long pants or jeans recommended. (Same program offered both dates.)

Crazy for horses? This program is for you! Learn all about safety, grooming and horse care in this hands-on program.

Recycle and Accessorize

WHO: Daisies and Brownies
WHEN: Saturday, October 2, 2010, 1 – 3:30 pm
Saturday, October 16, 2010, 1 – 3:30 pm
WHERE: Dover, location TBA
COST: $55 per class or $95 for both classes
NOTE: Class fee includes use of Viking computerized sewing machines, use of instructor’s equipment, instructor fees and most materials needed for projects completed in class. Bring recycled materials for class such as a pair of old jeans, Capri Sun Bags or an old tee shirt with a logo on it.

Accessorize your wardrobe from simple scrunchies to bags, belts and flower pins using recycled materials and lots of embellishment techniques. Go Green and master basic sewing skills as you create cool accessories for you and your friends. Awesome!

Join Ms. Bobbi on Thursdays to learn to use the sewing machine with ease and sew some great projects too! Two sessions will be offered during the Fall Semester and each session will consist of three one-and-one-half-hour classes. Mix and match the classes to fit your schedule! Every class is a beginner class with a different project. All equipment needed and all project materials are included. Sign up for all three classes in a session ($60/session) or all 6 classes ($120) to take advantage of the savings. It’s easy and “sew” fun too!

NOTE: Includes a patch and program supplies for all participants.

Experience a wonderful world of fantasy. Wear costumes, make fun crafts, sing songs and tell fairy stories. Feel free to invite your friends to attend. You do not need to be a Girl Scout to attend this event. Girls can choose to sign up independent of a Troop/Group as well. A camp counselor will be provided for those campers.

NOTE: Includes a patch and program supplies for all participants. You do not need to be camp trained to attend this event. Please follow Safety-Wise girl and adult ratios when registering. Friday’s dinner must be provided by the Troop/Group.

Starry Nights Sleep Over

WHO: Brownies, Juniors and Cadettes
WHEN: Saturday, January 15, 2011, 3 pm – Sunday, January 16, 2011, 12 pm
WHERE: Camp Country Center, Hockessin
COST: $25 per Girl Scout, includes program activities, patch, dinner on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday.
NOTE: Please dress for the weather, wear sturdy shoes, gloves and hats. Please bring an evening snack to share. Min. 15/Max. 40

We’ll be looking at the stars indoors and out and using the indoor planetarium. Learn all about constellations, zodiac star symbols and mythological stories of the skies. We’ll take a night hike and see if we can locate stars in the outdoor night sky (weather permitting).

Dance Party Overnight

WHO: Brownies and Juniors
WHEN: Overnight February 4 – 5, 2011, 7 pm – 3 pm
WHERE: Camp Sandy Pines, Fruitland, MD
COST: $25 per Girl Scout, $37 per non Girl Scout. Includes program supplies, patch, snacks and two meals.
NOTE: Please bring your favorite dance shoes and outfit!

Join us for a fun time as we dance all day and into the night. Discover the various genres of music. Come show us your best dance moves and try out a few new ones! Girls can choose to sign up independent of a Troop/Group as well. A camp counselor will be provided for those campers.

APRIL, 2011

Adventures with Teddy

WHO: Daisies and Brownies
WHEN: Friday, April 29, 2011, 6 pm – Sunday, May 1, 2011, 10 am
WHERE: Camp Todd, Denton, MD
COST: $35 per attendee, includes breakfast, lunch and dinner on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday. Plus a tee shirt and patch
NOTE: Friday dinner must be provided by the Troop/Group. You must follow Safety-Wise standards of girl and adult ratios for this event. You do not need a camp trained adult to attend this event. Tagalongs are welcome but must be registered and paid for like regular attendees.

Have you ever wanted to bring your favorite teddy bear to camp and have all of the activities center around just the two of you? Now you can! Come to Camp Todd and enjoy fun filled adventures made just for you and your special friend. Treasure hunting, ziplining, stories and singing silly songs are just the beginning. Conquer any fears you or teddy have together, all while making new friends and memories to last a lifetime.
