AUGUST, 2010
Girls Summer Camp
WHO: All girls entering 1st to 7th grades
WHEN: August 2-6, 9 am-4 pm
WHERE: Holly Center, Salisbury
The Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay Council will be sponsoring a day camp from August 2 to 6, 2010, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., at the Holly Center in Salisbury. The cost is $50 per girl. Financial assistance is available. Please bring a bag lunch and drink. The camp is open to all girls entering 1st through 7th grades in the fall of 2010. You do not have to be a registered Girl Scout to attend. Girls must register to attend the Girl Scouts Holly Center Summer Camp by July 23, 2010. Summer Camp is a safe and healthy way for girls to have fun, make new friends, try new things, gain confidence, and create lasting memories! Girls will develop skills in leadership and gain a greater sense of independence by being appreciated for who they are. The girls will be taking a virtual road trip to other states along with playing games and doing crafts. There will also be outdoor activities including swimming.

Women in Aviation

Join the Delaware 99’s (an international organization of women pilots) who graciously host this popular event. You will learn how to become a pilot, visit the control tower, learn about aircraft fire emergency procedures and create a variety of paper planes.
This is a very popular event, sign up early!

Simply Sewing
WHO: Juniors, Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassadors
WHEN: 7-week session: Thursday, October 7, 14, 21, 28 and November 4, 11 and 18, 2010
TIME: 5:30 – 7:30 pm
WHERE: Dover, location TBA
COST: $175 per Girl Scout, plus supplies for projects and personal sewing equipment. Session price includes instruction, the use of instructor’s sewing equipment, and the use of Husqvarna Viking computerized sewing machines
Ever dream of being a designer and making your own clothes? Want to personalize your clothes and make a fashion statement? Don’t know how to begin? Well, this is just the class for you! Learn how to take your measurements, determine your correct pattern size and choose a pattern that’s right for you. Learn how to read a pattern to determine fabrics and identify notions that you will need to sew your project. Choose a pattern, gather your supplies and get going sewing! Sewing machine basics and sewing terminology and techniques will be covered throughout the session.
Class size is limited so register early.

Small, secretive creatures are everywhere. They are the most common animals that we interact with most often. They have been on earth for millions of years and without them we could not have most of the foods, fabrics or beautiful flowers we enjoy.
Explore the jewels they inspire, the myths, beauty and life cycle of insects, spiders and more multi-legged creatures. This is Entomology and Art in Action.

Starry Nights Sleep Over

We’ll be looking at the stars indoors and out and using the indoor planetarium. Learn all about constellations, zodiac star symbols and mythological stories of the skies. We’ll take a night hike and see if we can locate stars in the outdoor night sky (weather permitting).

Join us for a fun time as we dance all day and into the night. Discover the various genres of music. Come show us your best dance moves and try out a few new ones! Girls can choose to sign up independent of a
Troop/Group as well. A camp counselor will be provided for those campers.

Kickin It – Camp Todd

WHEN: Saturday, April 30, 2011, 9 am – April 31, 2011, 10 am
WHERE: Camp Todd, Denton, MD
COST: $35 per Girl Scout and $47 per non-registered Girl Scout, includes lunch and dinner on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday plus a patch.
Kick it up a notch and go kayaking, ziplining, geo-cashing and more with us during this fun weekend at Camp Todd. At night around the campfire we will tell stories, listen to music and talk. You do not need to be a Girl Scout to attend this event. Girls can choose to sign up independent of a Troop/Group as well. A camp counselor will be provided for those campers.
