Studio 2B Update

In response to the Girl Scouts Spring 2004, Leader Magazine:

In a 1925 letter Juliette Gordon Low, founder of the Girl Scout Movement, wrote of Girl Scout:

"I realize that each year it has changed and gown until I know that, a decade from now, what I might say of it would seem like an echo of what has been instead of what is."

In 2004, Girl Scouts continues the proud tradition of adjusting to meet the needs of each generation of girls with the STUDIO 2B approach.

Girl Scouts developed the STUDIO 2B approach based on major research with Girl Scouts, volunteers, parents, and councils. They study found Girl Scouts needed an updated way to deliver the Girl Scout program, adding flexibility and options while continuing to focus on core Girl Scout values.

The important tradition in Girl Scouts is a commitment to the Girl Scout Promise and Law. The Girl Scout Promise and Law is at the core of any Girl Scout experience a girl and her family chooses. Over the decades, books and activities have changed, but the commitment to core Girl Scout values remains!

With the STUDIO 2B approach, Girl Scouts ensures that the Promise and Law continues to be relevant to today's girls. Although some materials and awards are new, girls will continue to register as Girl Scouts and enjoy everything Girl Scouts have always loved -- from community service, along with opportunities to bridge to new experiences, work on Interest Projects, and earn the Girl Scout Silver and Gold Awards. They can also choose to explore new topics in the STUDIO 2B Focus Book series or chat about STUDIO 2B Collections with their friends.

As STUDIO 2B continues to roll out you will see that it is steeped in Girl Scout traditions and is a recommitment to the very core of Girl Scouting. Reassure Girl Scouts that changes are gradual and evolving. They are encouraged to continue doing what they love doing and incorporate new elements.

Stay informed about what STUDIO 2B means for girls and for Girl Scouting. Ask your Girl Scout Council for more information about the latest information about all the options available about all options available for girls 11-17 locally.

Change is never easy, but as the preeminent organization for girls in the world, our responsibility to every girl, everywhere means we must constantly reassess how to stay true to our core values and beliefs while appealing to the needs of a new generation.

Thanks your hard work and concern for the as the Girl Scout Movement continues to help grows strong -- today and always.
