Newark, DE, January
13, 2006:
Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay Council has found
that the critical needs of girls are not being met. We are the voice
of girls on the Delmarva Peninsula and advocating the needs of
girls.
Girl Today: The 4-1-1 raises the
critical concerns of girls and provides resources to work with girls
to understand their needs.
What are critical priorities for girls?
• Violence •
Poverty • Health • Education
Chesapeake Bay
Council is addressing the critical priorities by:
• Giving girls the skills to resist violence
• Educating girls about health issues such as obesity and AIDS
• Providing girls in poverty an opportunity to participate in
positive programs
• Addressing the gender gap in science/technology
Girl Scouting builds girls of confidence, courage, and character,
who make the world a better place. We do that by providing girls
with personal leadership development and programs that build real
life skills for the real world.
