Newark, DE, January 9, 2007:  There's good news about Girl Scout cookies:  Seven varieties are now trans fat free and still have the same great taste, and Girl Scouts will continue to work with our bakers to make sure they continue to use the best ingredients so our cookies stay among one of America's favorite treats.  We do recommend that, as with any dessert product, Girl Scout cookies are best eaten in moderation. And to help consumers can make an informed choice, the ingredients and nutritional profile of each variety are clearly listed on both the cookie box and order form.

As with all Girl Scout activities, a key aspect of the Girl Scout Cookie
® Program is empowering girls to make informed decisions in all aspects of their lives including choosing to make Girl Scout Cookies an occasional, mouth-watering treat.

New for 2007, there is a sugar-free and zero trans fat cookie, Little Brownie.  MRI data show that there are 61.6 million "sugar avoiders" in the United States. Whether consumers simply prefer to eat less sugar or they're on a restricted diet, they can enjoy the sweet-tasting goodness of the Little Brownie.

Girl Scouts will be out in your community taking Girl Scout cookie orders starting on January 6, 2007. Cookies will be delivered by Girl Scouts between February 3rd and 8th.
