We would like to
thank the community for their support of Operation Taste of Homesm:
Girl Scout Cookies for our Armed Forces. The community purchased
close to 40,000 boxes of Girl Scout Cookies to be donated to the USO
for our Armed Forces. USO located in Dover Air Force Base to
distribute the cookies to Armed Forces in Iraq, Kuwait, Afghanistan,
and other bases. In addition, cookies were sent to local VA
hospitals for members wounded in
action.
Girl
Scout troops want to make a difference to our armed forces stationed
overseas. Community service is a hallmark of Girl Scouting. This
project gave the Girl Scouts the opportunity to do something
positive in these uncertain times and to show support for armed
forces. Since 2003, Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay Council
Operation Taste of Homesm
has
provided over 130,000 boxes of the Girl Scout cookies to our
Armed Forces overseas via the USO thanks to the generosity of
the community. The USO located at Dover Air Force Base distributed
the cookies all over the world. This project gave girls the
opportunity to make a positive difference for our women and men in
the armed forces overseas.
Girl Scouting builds girls of confidence, courage, and character,
who make the world a better place. We do that by providing girls
with personal leadership development and programs that build real
life skills for the real world. To learn more about Girl Scouts of
