FLAG CEREMONY

This flag ceremony illustrates how the Girl Scout Movement is structured. It was debuted at the 1991 Older Girl Recognition Luncheon. Written and submitted by a Senior Troop from Hockessin, Delaware.
Needed:
1 Caller with a strong, clear speaking voice
6 Flagbearers
6 Color guards
6 Flag Stands
6 Flags (American, WAGGGS, CBGSC, Delaware, Maryland and Virginia)
Musical accompaniment is optional, but very effective.
Presenting the Colors
Flagbearers and color guards line up in order: US, WAGGGS, CBGSC, DE, MD, VA
CALLER:
Please rise for the flag of the United States of America.. Music - God Bless America.

On June 14, 1777, a resolution was passed by the Continental Congress declaring that the flag of the United States have 13 alternating red and white stripes and 13 white stars on a field of blue representing a new constellation.
Girl Scouts, recite the Pledge of Allegiance: I pledge allegiance to the flag of the .......

The first star on the United States flag represents Delaware, admitted to the Union as the first state on December 7, 1787. Delaware - post your colors.

The Girl Scout Council of the Chesapeake Bay encompasses the three counties of Delaware, the nine Eastern shore counties in Maryland, and the two Eastern counties of Virginia. This Council was formed in 1962, by combining the existing councils of Wilmington and Peninsula. Girl Scout Council of the Chesapeake Bay, post your colors.

Girl Scouts of the United States of America was founded on March 12, 1912. The World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts was chartered sixteen years later. The WAGGGS flag is blue with a golden trefoil symbolizing the three-fold promise of all Girl Scouts and Girl Guides. World Association, post your colors.

The United States flag represents a proud tradition of many years. There is a strong connection between the colors of our flag and our Girl Scout Promise. The red denotes sacrifice and courage; the white symbolizes liberty, and the blue- the faith and strength that built our great country. United States, post your colors.
