    What is STUDIO 2BSM?
STUDIO 2B is an exciting Girl Scout program opportunity for girls ages 11 - 17, where girls have a hand in planning their own activities. STUDIO 2B is a direct result of the New Directions for girls 11-17 research. In STUDIO 2B girls connect with adult advisors and with other girls. They share their thoughts on issues, create meaningful experiences and hang out in a place that's designed to let them be who they are and encourages them to become who they want to be. Girls in STUDIO 2B are still Girl Scouts and live by the Girl Scout Promise and Law.

    The Four B's:
    Program Goals for
    STUDIO 2B members -

Become: Celebrate yourself today and become your best self in the future.
Belong: Be a part of a group where you have fun, relate to others with respect, and develop lasting friendships.
Believe: Develop your ideas and voice what is important to you.
Build: Take action on what you care about and make a difference.

How does the "By Girls, For Girls" part
    of
    STUDIO 2B work?

By listening to girls - at every opportunity. This is one way you can help! As adult advisors, you have much more contact with teens than council staff. Help us listen to teens by listening for us and then share (or ask the girls to share) with us what you have learned about those hopes and dreams ...and fears. We want to hear what the girls have to say!

What are the STUDIO 2B resources and where can I find them?
Current STUDIO 2B resources consist of Collections, Focus books, the Basics Binder and a range of Charms earned by completing Focus activities.

STUDIO 2B Collections are annual publications for girls ages 11-13, 13-15, and 15-17. They contain celebrity interviews, first-person accounts, quizzes, advice columns, girl stories and activity ideas in a colorful magazine format.

STUDIO 2B Basics is the "core" resource book girls can carry with them to help them plan, connect and do. This resource answers: What exactly is STUDIO 2B? What do I need to do to be a member? How do I connect with other girls and adults? What activities can I do and how can I find out more about them? And how can I keep track of it all? This "core" resource comes in a binder with plenty of room for additional resources.

STUDIO 2B Focus Books are hands-on, skill based, informational, practical and interactive resources that provide girls with new experiences in the topic of their choice. Girls can choose their own STUDIO 2B Focus topic and then have the option of completing the activities either individually or in a group. The choice is theirs! Girls set goals in the topic they want to explore and once they have reached their goals, they are able to earn a STUDIO 2B Charm representing their efforts and newly acquired skills.

    TAKE CHARGE
The world is a crazy place sometimes and girls need to learn skills to protect themselves. This is what Take Charge is all about - learning how to keep themselves and their friends safe.

    ON TRACK
Whether an avid runner or beginner girls who pick up On Track will get those sneakers moving!

    UNIQUELY ME! THE REAL DEAL
What's PMA? Positive Mental Attitude, of course. Everyone needs a PMA at one time or another. The Real Deal contains activities that teach girls to use their PMA to help deal with peer pressure and stress. Also available in Spanish.

Please visit or contact a Bay Shop for all
    STUDIO 2B resources.

Are the charms that girls earn with
    the
STUDIO 2B Focus books official awards?

Yes! The charms are new earned awards. Charms are equivalent to IPPs and girls can chose to earn IPP's or Charms. The charms were created in response to the research from girls that they are looking for fun, new ways to mark their accomplishments. Girls earn and collect charms when they complete the goals they establish for each Focus book.

What happens with the current Girl Scout resources for girls 11-17?
Consider the handbooks, interest projects, Issues for Girl Scouts booklets and all of the new STUDIO 2B resources as a menu of options. All of them are "real" Girl Scout materials, and all of the represent equally viable ways for girls to "do" Girl Scouts. Girls may choose how they want to mix and match resources to complement what they decide they want to do in STUDIO 2B groups and events. Regarding the terms 'Cadette' and 'Senior', girls can choose to identify themselves in terms that feel right to them, whether Cadette/Senior, Teens or STUDIO 2B. That is the true heart of STUDIO 2B.
