Adult Training - How to Register

IMPORTANT
You must register in advance for each course you plan to attend. Unregistered participants will be included only if materials and space permit; participation is not guaranteed. All Outdoor and First Aid training require registration and payment at least two weeks prior to the course. Courses will be closed when the maximum number of participants is reached. Courses may be cancelled if they fail to reach the minimum number of participants.

The New Leaders course has been designed in two sessions; all new leaders must complete both Leadership Fundamentals (About Girl Scouting: Part A) and Age Level (Basics of Age Level Program: Part B). An Experienced Leader must attend Age Level (Part B) when changing program levels. An Experienced Leader from another council is encouraged to attend Leadership Fundamentals (Part A). Please visit the Leadership Fundamentals and Age Level pages for more information. You must attend the entire session to receive credit for the course.

Use the Adult Training Form (WORD|PDF) to register by mail or by fax, or you can register online for Leadership Fundamentals and Age Level Training only.

1. Registration and Fees
Course fees are due at the time of registration. Registration will only be accepted by phone or online for courses with no fee (Newark Resource Center ext. 7174.) A complete Adult Training Form (WORD|PDF) must be submitted for each course you plan to attend (unless you register by phone, or online).

2. Cancellations
A training session may be cancelled up to 24 hours prior based on inclement weather or trainer emergency. Call the cancellation mailbox line (NRC ext. 8332) for cancellation information.

3. Refunds
In the event a training session is cancelled by council, we will make every effort to reschedule the session within the training year (August-May.) If you are unable to attend a rescheduled session within the training year, your prepaid registration will be refunded.

Please notify the NRC on (302) 456-7150 ext. 7174 if you are unable to attend a training program. Please leave a message if the office is closed (NRC ext. 7174). Outdoor and First Aid training fees will be refunded only if the cancellation is received in the Newark Resource Center at least three weeks prior to the course. Cancellation may be made by phone (NRC ext. 7174), in person, e-mail, or in writing (ATTN: Adult Training.)

4. Confirmations
Email confirmations will be sent for registrations. Written confirmations will only be sent for Camping Basics along with a packing list and directions to camp.

5. Course Materials
Course materials will be provided to registered participants at the training session. Please bring pencil and paper to class. Please bring appropriate handbooks/leaders guides to age level courses. They will be used in activities.

If you are attending a full day of classes, you may want to bring a bag lunch. Not all of our sites are located close to fast food restaurants.

Please make every effort to be on time for your course. Trainers are asked to begin promptly and end on time.

Teen girls 14 and older are welcome to attend all training courses! You may take First Aid and Camping Basics, but cannot serve as the first aider or camp trained person for a troop until you are registered as an adult. We look forward to seeing you!
